The activity that we participated on Wednesday was the first day of creation of statutes for the students’ organization from social work. I am part of the career student center called ''mesa coordinadora interina'', so my participation was very important for the other people who are also part of that, because we have been organizing this instance since March. Also the presence and the opinion from all the students were so much necessary for get a real participative and autonomous work.   I think there were few students from social work because, in first, the career, like all the careers of all universities, gives too much academic load, so we have a lot to read and study, and some classmates use all the classless time to do their works, even the strike, and in second, because these activities don’t motivates them yet. The last paper I read was one for Sociological Theory II. This paper is called ‘’the action theory’ and it is written by Talcot Parsons, who is a North American sociologist. The teacher recommended this paper to us because in this semester we are going to learn more deeply about sociology, but sincerely I didn’t understand anything of the paper. As I didn’t understand, obviously I didn’t enjoy it. Also I am in a difficult moment of my university life, or in other words, I am thinking of retiring from the career, so my motivation is even less. Turning to something that I would like to read more, in first, more papers about Chilean and Latin American social movements that raised with popular and autonomy fundaments, for example the zapatista's movement, and second, more about politic, like the essays from Gramsci, who talk a lot of political theories related to the way to understand the society. My name is Dominique Aravena, student of social work at University of Chile. A research field that interests me is house programs. I would like to study how the streets constructions or the streets fixes affect the people who live near, focus in the irritating sounds and the visual prolusion that it produce, that stress and probably make depression to the neighbors, especially in the vulnerable areas of the city. I am interested in this problem because it happens very often in my ex neighborhood. I think this will contribute to house programs because maybe this will make programs more respectful and conscious with the people and their daily life. 

Hi! First I would like to thank the teacher for her patience and for all the knowledge and experiences she shared with us. Well, I really liked this subject because it was not boring like others english class that I have been before. I remember that the English class in my school was quite boring and I did not learn anything. I could define just one bad thing. This subject occupied a lot of time of my afternoons. So I was frustrated at some point because some days I had to finish work or study and I could not do it because i I had to attend the English class. Sometimes I forgot that it was time to go to English class, because I was doing works or studying for the subjects of my university career. But leaving that aside, it was a very rewarding experience for me. This year the curriculum of my career has changed. Before the changes that the academics made, the curriculum had three different History subjects, about contemporary history, about Chile and about Latin America, one per semester. Now we have just two subjects. The Latin American History was retired. Personally I love History and to learn about the details of the history that are not told by the official history, so in the future a change that could be made in the study programme is add this subject again, because I think it is really important to dedicate long time to this. Another change I would like to do in my career is the teaching methods. Nowadays some teachers are really heavy with us. I understand the concern about the academic requirement but I completely disagree with the violent practices that we have to endure. Obviously this violence is not physical, it is verbal. Hi everyone One place that I would like to visit on this winter vacation is Talca. One of my friend’s house is located In Talca, so me and all my friends can visit him. There is a field with a dam and a bridge, and it is very interesting place to go over for, because it has so many beautiful natural places. Another place that I would like to go in winter is any beach. Even though the cold I am in love with visiting the beach in winter because it is a very calm atmosphere. I am in love with the sea and the peculiar breeze of the beach. I would like to visit a beach near Santiago because probably I am going backpacking and arrive there is more simple if the place is closer. I do that in summer with a friend, and it was a very short trip on a truck. Hi everyone! I have never watched a  complete  TV  show, but since I was little that I watched‘’House’’ on TV, so I will talk about it. This show is about a doctor’s life who is a really irritated person, and sometimes, really strange. Basically the episodes are about his relation with his patients and his workmates. I don’t remember any episode in this moment.  But I really like to see this TV show because it is closer to reality than other series and interesting, because it happens a lot of stories about various illnesses that are presented in our society. Also it is very enjoyable because the protagonist, named Gregory House, is very ironic with the other characters. I remember when I was little and all my family watched together this TV show every afternoon after school, so I ended up watching it too. I really don’t know about postgraduate studies so much but I think I would like to do a diploma course in infancy or in indigenisim. I am interested in infancy because I have always thought that the childhood is a period very important for our life but at the same time it is a theme very neglected by the state. At this moment many kids in our country are being abandoned by their neglecting parents or the critical treatment that the schools or public hospitals give to them. So I want to learn how to contribute in a concrete way. Also I am interested in indigenisim because I feel the need to learn about native people history and the just fair fight that they are doing for justice, territory and autonomy. I think this question it is very difficult to answer for a social work student, and sincerely, it is difficult for any social sciences student, but i will try it... In this moment of my life I would like to have a job in a rural school, because I really want to contribute in an educational project and use all that I learn in university. I prefer a rural school because I get really stressed in the city, also I think rural students would need my contribution more than urban students, because until today the countrysides are very backwards compared to cities. I would like to work outdoors, because I think it is really important to do a close work with people, so I want to meet the students, their families and the neighbors of the school, in short, I want to be in contact with all the people of the locality for do a useful work for them.   I love travel but I think that I can not travel so much when I work in the future, because I have to stay a minimum time in a place fo

I will not vote in the next elections because I think voting is a very inefficient way to act and affect in the political organization of our country.  For me it is not a pain in the neck at all, but I see it like an illusion that makes people believe that they are civil responsible, when in fact they are just qualifying a political model that will never represent people, instead of taking care of their lives and their needs.   I hate the electoral campaigns because it attacks the civic mentality with fake promises that hide the real political and economic interest of the political class. People who want to run a public position have to know the hard reality of the neighborhood, public hospitals, public transport and public schools, among others.  I think it is impossible that a person who lives very comfortable and not able to understand the injustices and problems that normal people confront every day. This question is very difficult for me, but after thinking a lot I realized that I would like to meet Nicanor Parra. Nicanor Parra is a famous Chilean poet, who turned 103 years this year. He is well-known for his multiple and controversial appearances. This guy is also Violeta Parra's brother.  I like him since I was very young, after meeting him through a poem I read in Santiago subway, within a book day celebration. I admire him because he is a very interesting person and I really think that he is a very wise person, When he was young he studied in Internado Nacional Barros Arana School, then he was math and physics professor in this same university! He has published more than twenty books, so he has written around 300 poems.  Because of his tens speeches and his worldwide work he has won so many awards along his life, like the municipal prize in Santiago or the Chilean national prize. In spite of that he has never won the Nobel Prize, although he has been candidate.

The best concert I have seen is The Pretty Reckless show in August 2012. In that moment they were my favorite band, so I was so excited to see them live, although I had to go alone, because at that year none of my friends knew the band. The concert was very cool because the stage was small and all the fans could see them extremely close up and sing very near the band. Well, maybe you know the vocalist, her name is Taylor Momsen. When she was a little girl she acted in The Grinch Movie, so I have known her for a long time, but in that moment she was 6 and when I saw her in person, like 12 years later, she was very different, but still cute! The show lasted until midnight, so my big sister went to find me when it ended. It is a very nice memory because we walk together along Providencia Avenue, in the middle of the night, talking about the concert and other sisters’ things until we took the bus to our home. 

Well, the country I would like to visit is Euskal Herria, because it is a place full of history that I really want to know and learn about. Actually it is not a country, it belongs to Spain, but it is a very important location that fights for autonomy and democracy. People in this place have their own language and traditions that are being repressed by others countries cultures. If someday I visit this country I would like to meet the settlers and learn about the history of their nation, also I am interested in supporting their fight for self determination. I would like to work or study in this country, because I can make friends and contacts that will allow me to know more about the situation.

Hi classmates, my name is Dominique, today I have turned 18 years old and I'm a social work student at Universidad de Chile. Well, I dont know what I'm doing in this English level, because it's very complicated for me, considering that I haven't practiced for a long time.  I understand the language but I can't talk it very well so I hope this class and this beautiful miss help me to surpass my weakness and get good grades with all of you.
